About David:

Hi, my name is Dave and I believe that learning should be made FUN in order to captivate the minds of our children. I’m an elementary school teacher with experience with students in testing grades, specifically in the areas of ELA & Math. I believe all students can learn; it’s mostly a matter of being able to teach them in a manner that will inspire and take full advantage of what they already do well. I like to break up a Big Goal into smaller less intimidating and intermediate goals. This gives the student immediate gratification as well as the push to continue developing and using the skills learned. I am fully bilingual English/Spanish. I pride myself in the fact that in State Standardized tests all of my students have outscored their city counterparts.

I also have an Dual Undergraduate Degree in Accounting and Information Systems and Economics. I have 4 years' experience working as an Auditor for a Big Four Accounting firm.

I am well-versed in the new Common Core Standards as well as in NCLB Standards. I was involved in the past year in developing the Reading and Writing curriculum as well as different rubrics that would be used for my grade. Besides ELA & Math, I have plenty of experience with Social Studies as well as Science content. I am very familiar with reading comprehension techniques and have been heavily involved with after school and Saturday Academy as a way to increase student achievement on standardized tests.
